Welsh Success in Beef Young Handler Championship
A six hour drive from Wales proved well worth it for an Abergavenny family when 13 year old Jack Bodily took the Young Beef Handler Championship at the 2016 Countryside Live.
Jack, who was the youngest competitor in the class, impressed the judge with his knowledge, confidence and stocksmanship as he showed “Tedwina” a 16 month old Blue X heifer.
A member of his local Young Farmers’ Club, Jack helps on the 96 acre family farm which runs 40 suckler cows and 80 commercial sheep. Tedwina is already a winner in her own right having taken the breed championship at the Royal Cornwall and Royal Welsh shows.
Jack has a busy week ahead as he is preparing for his next outing – a Young Farmers Stockjudging competition next weekend.
The Reserve ticket went to 14 year old Elliw Roberts, from Anglesey, showing a Limousin x heifer.
